What is the purpose of a party wall agreement?

There is no such thing as a party wall agreement. The purpose of the Party Wall etc Act 1996 is to notify neighbours of building works which may affect their property. The neighbours then have the option to appoint a surveyor, who will review the works and stipulate ways to reduce the likelihood of damage from occurring.
